Start small, go big and give back.

This is a core value shared by the brand Patagonia, about their activism. I attempt to apply it with Hīkishémé.  My spirit and soul are lifted when I can give back through volunteerism.

Hīkishémé supports:

Alexandria House | A transitional home for women and children located in Los Angeles, California. Since 1996, they have provided safe and supportive housing for women and children in the process of moving from emergency shelters to economic stability and permanent housing.

Inner City Arts | Providing access to the arts and the endless possibilities they offer, Inner-City Arts is an investment in the youth of Los Angeles. Creating a bridge between the studio and the classroom, Inner-City Arts' unique approach to arts education measurably improves academic and personal outcomes for children and youth, including those students with Limited English Proficiency who are at risk of academic failure.

Young Storytellers | Young Storytellers equips young people to be the driving force of their own narratives. They are passionate about bringing people together and creating stories to raise the voices of those who don’t often get heard.
