Dream Scent Walk: East Village - Tribeca - Chelsea - Back Again
I’m holding the book, ‘Lillian Boxfish Takes a Walk’ by Kathleen Rooney as I step out of The Bowery Hotel. It’s 9am. I dream of the dessert I will eat at 9pm.
Deep breath in —flowers, coffee, smoke, bacon. When in New York, I walk. Maybe the subway. Rarely a cab.
10:00am — Coffee Project NY Tribeca, Pandan latte. smell of coffee, warm wood, earth and fresh greens.
11:00am — La Garçonne Tribeca, Soft paper, clean woods, dry linen. edited, quiet, intentional.
12:00pm — Blue in Green, Airy and fresh—leafy, herbal, a little mossy. Raw denim adds a mineral.
12:30pm — Washington Square Park. I read for a bit. Fresh leaves, damp soil, early blossoms, drifting coffee, city air.
2:00pm — ABC Carpet & Home. Layered scent—wood, textiles, warm florals.
2:15pm — abcV Restaurant. Lunch. garlic, pale woods, soft florals, clean light, tomato.
4:15pm — The Marlton Hotel (lobby bar) Dim, cozy, fire. Espresso in the afternoon.
5:00pm — Walker Hotel Greenwich Village. I meet friends. Smoky woods, amber, resin, worn leather, soft spice. a little cinematic.
6:00pm — The High Line. We walk. Fresh shoots, damp stems, earth, sun-warmed concrete. Quiet florals. A salty note.
8:30pm — Thai Diner. I split off and take myself to dinner and read. The smells - spice, heat, sweet and comfort. One of the best meals in the city.
10:30pm — Back to The Bowery Hotel. Sleep
