Why I love teaching private workshops
As I sit down to write this blog post, I’m realizing how many incredible people I’ve met in my workshops this past month. Every time, the people in the room give me more than I expected: spirit, laughter, encouragement, and strength. I hope I return the favor.
A few weeks ago, I taught a private scent workshop at Brasada Ranch, and those ladies were amazing! They were on a corporate retreat, and in their downtime, they chose to spend an afternoon blending with me. During the workshop, a few of us got talking about being bolder and more confident, and they looked at me and said, “Kristine, tell the part of you that’s holding back to go for it.”
My answer? “OKAY, I WILL!” And I did!
That moment reminded me how much joy this business brings me. Some of my very best experiences happen when I teach a workshop, and I always walk away with new friends.
I also turned 60 this month. A week before my birthday, I felt it. The fear crept in that I’m just not young anymore. Then my birthday arrived, my friends came together for a party, and that feeling disappeared. Now I’m asking the universe to bring on this decade! I’m now ready to give this confidence back to my friends, family, customers, and students.
One thing became crystal clear: I cherish my new friends, they bring me new ideas, games, dancing and food. And then there are my long-term friendships, the kind that go back more than three decades. These friends help me remember fun times as a teenager and reflect who I was back then laughing about all the secrets we held. I’m so grateful for all of them.
That thought of long term friendships came back to me as I taught a private workshop in Sunriver for a group of women who met in high school. Every year, they fly to a new destination for one long weekend together. While they were out at dinner, I transformed their vacation home into a pop-up scent studio. When they walked back in, everything was ready, and the evening was full of laughing, blending, scenting, and stories. They had me laughing all night with their embarrassing high school tales and I could relate completely.
To both groups: thank you. You brought me a world of joy, and I hope I did the same for you.
This November, I invite you to do something special for yourself. Take that next step in a relationship, a business, or a new chapter of your life. Tell the part of you that’s holding back to go for it. It is never too late to create more for your life, your heart, your relationships, and your home.
